Douglas Alan Summers

July 19, 1960 – September 19, 2019

Douglas Alan Summers, a.k.a. “Dougy Fresh”, 59, of New Albany and formerly of Danville Illinois, entered eternal rest September 19, 2019. He was a long-time participant in Special Olympics in Danville, IL. Doug’s love and knowledge of vintage cars was nothing short of amazing. He was also an avid Nascar and stock car fan. But, above these two things, nothing compared to his love for his family and friends. Doug never met a stranger and was loved by everyone he met.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Ruby Summers; his sister Rita Haworth.

Cherishing his memory is his sister Connie Arnett (Tammy Bickel) of New Albany, IN.; nieces Brandi Semonick and Jessica Anderegg of Urbana, IL.; nephews Adam Semonick and Jason Grant of Danville, IL.; 1 great niece; 2 great-nephews and 7 great-great nieces; his very dear friends Terri Roberts of Louisville, KY. and Ashley McCorkle of New Albany, IN.

A special thank you to Wedgewood Healthcare Center and Adaptive Hospice for their incredible care and support during these last months.

A private celebration of life will be held in New Albany and in Illinois at a later date. Doug’s final resting place will be with his parents in the Danville National Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers the family is requesting donations be made to Special Olympics at give.specialolympics.org in memory of Douglas A. Summers.
