Dr. David L. White Jr. was born in Jeffersonville, IN and became one of the most faithful and effective leaders in his community and the United Methodist Church. He died on Saturday, June 23, 2018, at Clark Memorial Hospital. He was 91.

Dr. White served his country in the United States Army during World War II. After returning home he completed his education at the University of Louisville. He then began to spread his influence across several positions; and retired as the Assistant Secretary to the Board of Global Ministry. Maintaining his membership at Wesley United Methodist Church, Dr. White became an associate member at Gordon Memorial United Methodist Church in Nashville, TN. Through his life-long work in the community, he received three honorary doctorate degrees; along with numerous other forms of recognition and achievements.

He is preceded in death by his wife of 53 years Charlotte A. Hillard White; mother Orleeta Collins; father David A. White Sr; Brother George White

He is survived by his son David L. White III (Lavenia) of Jeffersonville, IN; his grandchildren Tamara L. Rascoe, and Timothy A. White; his great-grandchildren Elissa White, Denise White, Lamont C. Rascoe Jr., Langston C. Rascoe; and London Cierra Rascoe; brother Ronald Collins of Jeffersonville, IN; caregivers Angie White, and Tamara White Byrd; special friend Delores Casey.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, June 30, 2018, at 11:00 a.m. at Wesley United Methodist Church with burial to follow at Walnut Ridge Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, June 29, 2018, from 4-8:00 p.m. at the church.    

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Wesley United Methodist Church (1201Thomas V. Bryant Dr., Jeffersonville, IN 47130).
