George Walter Leep, Age 75

George Walter Leep, born on December 22, 1941, died suddenly on September 25, 2017 at his home in Louisville.  George was preceded in death by his parents, Clyde and Odelphia Leep, and his brother William Leep of Jeffersonville.  George was retired from Jefferson County Public Schools after 28 years of employment.

George was always referred to as “a good man”.  He was much loved by his golfing buddies and good friend, Albert Fisher, and all the field hockey players of Kammerer and Ballard High School and especially his three granddaughters.  He was a lifelong follower of Kentucky Wildcat Basketball and Notre Dame Football.  However, his love and passion was watching his granddaughters participate in all of their events.  He was an icon at the field hockey games where he was affectionately known as “Papa George” that earned him “THE FAN OF THE DECADE” Award from Kammerer Middle School.

George is survived by his son, Jeffery (Mary) and granddaughters, Lauren, Emma and Kristen Leep, his sister-in-law, Loyce Leep, niece Donna, and nephews John and Brian Leep and his former wife, Sedonia Williams.

Funeral Service will be held Saturday September 30, 2017 at 11:00 a.m. at E.M. Coots’ Sons Funeral Home with cremation to follow.  Visitation will be held Friday September 29, 2017 from 4-8:00 p.m. at the Funeral Home.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Salvation Army.

George was my "apartment husband" when I lived at Cypress Point. He was always there for me if something scared me, knocked at my door at 3:00 a.m, or I just plain wanted to talk Kentucky sports. He was simply a wonderful man! It was my good fortune that our paths crossed. May his soul be bound in the bonds of enternal life and may God grant him and his family peace.

It's always hard on the people left behind to lose a good friend or family member. But we forget that on the day we were born that there will come and end date. For us, we weren't ready to lose a kind and soft spoken friend like George. But with his new life , he's happy. He was ready to get away from the pain that he was suffering in this life. I will miss my chinese lunches with he and Al at the mall. But I pray that this kind man now has the peace in his life that he deserves. RIP George

Jeff, I am so sorry to hear about your dad. He was the best boss and one of the best men I ever knew. He was a great friend and I will miss him terribly. I am so sorry I will be out of town and can not make the services. I and several other friends plan to have a celebration of George's life in a couple of weeks. I know he would be pleased to hear this. He may be gone but his memory will live in my heart forever. Sending love and prayers to you, Mary and the girls. Pat
