Lee Roy Hemingway, 79, passed away Tuesday, October 2, 2018 at his home. He was a heavy equipment operator for 42 years for the city of Jeffersonville he also served as street commissioner and a Sheriff Deputy for 9 years at Clark County Sheriff Department. Lee was a gun activist, he was a member of NRA, Clark Mason Lodge 40 and VFW. He was a native of Magnet, IN.

He is survived by his wife of 33 years Shirley Hemingway of Jeffersonville, IN.; son Frank Smith (Doris) of New Albany, IN.; brother J. Larry Hemingway of Sweet Home, OR.; sister Nora Agnes of Paoli, IN.; grandchildren Shawn Smith, Matthew Smith, and April Dowell; 5 great-grandchildren; 1 great-great-grandchild.

Lee was preceded in death by his parents Roy E. Hemingway and Ora A. (Turner) Hemingway; 4 brothers and 2 sisters.

Funeral service will be held Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:30 a.m. E.M. Coots’ Sons Funeral Home with burial to follow in Kraft-Graceland Memorial Park. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

    Worked with Lee on street department for years. Lee was a good man.
