Wendell D. Conger, 85, passed away Sunday, June 2, 2019 at Westminster Village surrounded by his family. He was a U.S. Army Veteran from 1951-1953. He was a native of Adel, GA.

Wendell was a self-taught artist, and musician. His friends knew him as “The Fisherman” .

In December 1956 he would marry his sweetheart Mary Ellen Cowart and together they would raise 12 children and share in love and devotion for 62 years.

He started his career in 1958 as a Commercial Sign painter in Georgia and later would move his family to Arizona to further his career.  In 1972 he moved to Jeffersonville where he would build a career unsurpassed in this community. His sign company Conger Signs has served thousands of customers and continues to this day.   He was known for his kindness, hard work ethic and his strong faith in the Lord. Wendell was loyal follower of William Branham’s message of faith and love in Jesus.

He is survived by his wife Mary E. Conger of Jeffersonville, IN.; sons Larry W. Conger (Dawn) of Blairsville, GA., Timothy D. Conger (Jennifer) Ft. Myers, FL., William Joseph Conger (Monica) of Jeffersonville, IN., James D. Conger (Kristine) Pearl Harbor, HI., Joshua P. Conger (Amber) New Washington, IN., Jeremiah M. Conger of Jeffersonville, IN., John F. Conger of Jeffersonville, IN.; daughters Teresa E. Fergusson (Jim) of New Albany, IN., Rebekah L. Munzer (Mark) Jeffersonville, IN., Miriam A. Glotzbach (Pat) of Charlestown, IN.; brothers J.W. Conger of Ft. Myers, FL. and James C. Conger of Adel, GA.; sister Margaret L. Giddens of Adel, GA.; 10 grandchildren and 1 great-grandson.

Wendell was preceded in death by his parents Henry D. Conger and Myrtle L. Conger; sons Darrell L. Conger and Stephen D. Conger; brother Jacob Conger.

Funeral service will be held Friday, June 7, 2019 at 1:00 p.m. with burial to follow in Eastern Cemetery. Visitation will be Friday from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. all at E.M. Coots’ Sons Funeral Home.

    Have known Wendell and his family for more than 45 years. Wonderful man. He will be missed. Prayers to his family
