William R. “Bill” Pack, age 69, passed away on April 2, 2019 at Norton Hospital. He served in the U.S Navy during the Vietnam War. He was a member of V.F.W. Post 6582 in Austin, IN. He retired from C.S.X. where he worked as a Locomotive Engineer. He was a father figure to many and a legendary Race Car Driver.

He is survived by his daughters Sara B. Cochran (Joe) of Underwood, IN and Billie Jean Jefferies of Charlestown, IN; brother Jim S. Pack (Freda) of Burlington, KS; his sister Julie E. Smith (John) of Pleasanton, KS; grandchildren Packston Cochran, Melissa Crick, & Bradley Crick.

He is preceded in death by his wife Rebecca L. Pack; his parents True E. Pack and Martha Evelyn James Pack.

Funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 11:00 a.m. at E.M. Coots’ Sons Funeral Home with burial to follow in New Chapel Cemetery. Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019 from 3-8:00 p.m. and Saturday from 9:00 a.m. until the service all at the funeral home.

    Thank You Billy for being you!! You brought me years of stories, laughter, and being a great friend. You were family to all of us on the railroad. I'm sorry for your loss Sarah, though I never met you, I feel like I know You and Joey very well. Your Dad will forever remain in our hearts, and stories for years to come, thanks for sharing him with us.

    Billy was my mentor as an engineer. A fine teacher I could not have! He was also my friend . You will be missed . Rest in peace brother,!
